Catherine Lorene Greenwood, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away in her home at 11:25 p.m. on Jan. 18, 2014. She was born Sept. 13, 1924, to Leon McClanahan and Ernestine Leonard McClanahan, in Hymera. She graduated from Dugger High School. Catherine was a member of Lawton Street Christian Church, in Jasonville. She worked at RCA in Indianapolis during World War II, and married Harold R. Greenwood on Dec. 31, 1945. After raising her family, she worked as a clerical worker compiling telephone directories for Reuben H. Donnelley.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harold Ray Greenwood, on June 9, 2013; her parents; sister, Gelena Shipman and brother-in-law Evan Shipman. She is survived by her daughters, Rita McCuen of Ankeny, Iowa, and Sue Smith of Terre Haute: grandson, Travis McCuen and wife Stephanie of Bondurant, Iowa; granddaughter, Stephanie (McCuen) Gustafson and husband Ryan of Ankeny, Iowa; grandson, Brent Bones, his wife Melinda, and great-granddaughter, Karina of Pekin, Ill.; granddaughter, Lori (Smith) Kij, her husband Mike, and great-grandson, Dalton of Tucson, Ariz.; stepgrandson, Mike Smith, his wife Chris, and stepgreat-grandsons, Grant and Evan of Seymour; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at 12 noon, in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive. Burial will be in Farmersburg Westlawn Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Messmer will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, from 10 a.m. until service time.
