TERRE HAUTE —
Ralph M. Smithhart, 68, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord his God on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014. He was born March 20, 1945, in Terre Haute, to Ervin and Betty (Bierbaum) Smithhart. He married Sharon (Wilson) Smithhart on Nov. 17, 1978. Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a salesman for the majority of his working career.
He attended Calvary Temple Church, and loved the Lord and all of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed old cars, going to car shows, and watching the Indianapolis Colts play. He loved his two dogs, Bella and Chief, and his greatest joy in life was to make others happy, and making them laugh.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Jeff and wife Lori of Brazil; two daughters, Laura Taylor and husband Mike, and Amy McAdam and husband Justin, all of Terre Haute; two sisters, Sandy Kupferer and husband Rick, and Karen Smithhart; grandchildren, Ashley and husband Alex, Alexis, Tyler, Evan, Emily, Helen, and Evelyn; a great-grandchild, Ava; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services for Ralph are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., with Pastor Mike Lubinski officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 will be conducting graveside military services. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
