John J. Wilson Sr., 76, of Libertyville, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Sunday. June 30, 2013, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute. He retired as an extruder operator from Bemis in Terre Haute after many years of service. He was born Oct. 20, 1936, in Vigo County to John L. Wilson and Congetta Gilberto Wilson.
Survivors include a son, John J. Wilson Jr. and wife Tammy Wilson of Libertyville; a daughter, Kathy Freeman Wynne of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Don Wilson and Virgil Wilson, both of West Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Tracy Whited and husband, Alan, Joshua Wilson and fiancée Spring Burgess, Doug Adams, Brian Adams, and Amy Hudgins; 12 great-grandchildren, Nathan Whited, Zachary Whited, Breana Whited, Abagail Wilson, Noelle Adams, Cody Hudgins, Kuylar Hudgins, Haley Adams, Madison Adams, Brandon Jacobson, Brieallyn Adams, and Jacqueline Adams; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Wilson; and by a grandson, Brent Montgomery.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid golfer.
Funeral services for John will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Hought officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery, with graveside military rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday.
