Robert L. White

MARSHALL, Ill. — Robert L. White, 84, of Marshall, and formerly of West Union, Ill., passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at his home. He was born April 30, 1930, in the Melrose area of Clark County, Ill., the son of Robert White and Mildred Wallace White. He married Marjorie E. Walsh on June 19, 1955, at Snyder United Methodist Church, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 19, 2011.

Robert was a retired farmer. He also had been employed by Lawrence Gravel, Kuhn Trucking, the State of Illinois, Senco and had also been a carpenter. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Robert) English of Marshall; a son, Jerry White of Marshall; grandchildren, Jaryn  (Lindsey) English, Jordan (Logan) Brown, Jaedyn English, Ryan White and Renee (John) Green; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Alaine) White of Marshall; and four nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Sideroff; and a nephew, Chris Sideroff.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marshall, Knights of Pythias Lodge, Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975.

Service in honor of his life will be 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will be at the Ohio Cemetery, in rural West Union with military graveside rites performed by VFW Post 5975 and Clark County Post 90 of the American Legion. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund of VFW Post 5975.
