SANDBORN — Donald R. Gregg, 83, of Sandborn, went home to heaven surrounded by his loving wife and family at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes on Monday, June 9, 2014. Don was born in Shelburn, on Oct. 26, 1930, to Richard A. Gregg and Freda J. (Reese) Gregg. Don married the love of his life Beverly ‘June’ Blackwood on Aug. 19, 1951.

Don worked in Linton as a small businessman before retiring in 2000. He formerly owned and operated D.D. Bituminous Asphalt and Ready-Mix Concrete and Gregg Trucking and was co-owner of AM Risher Trucking, Park Inn Motel, Blue Jay Junction and M and J Trucking.

Don was a member of Sandborn United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and the Zorah Shrine. He served on the board of directors at Citizens National Bank in Linton, American National and Regions Banks in Vincennes. In recent years, Don went on the “Walk to Emmaus”, a Christian retreat and became active in the Mens’ Weekend Events. He enjoyed his hobbies of restoring, collecting and showing Model T’s and Model A’s, volunteering at Sandborn Community Park and decorating his yard for special occasions.

Surviving are Don’s loved ones: his wife, Beverly June Gregg; three sons, John R. (Lisa) Gregg of Sandborn, James ‘Rob’ Gregg of Bloomington and Dr. Joseph ‘Joedy’ (Shelley) Gregg of Vincennes; grandchildren, Jozie Gregg, Justine Gregg, John Blackwood Gregg, Hunter Gregg and Stevie Kelly; and two sisters, Barbara (Amos) Musselman of Newberry and Patricia (Phillip) Poe of Linton. Don was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Donna Anleitner.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Sandborn Memorial Park Fund in memory of Don. Envelopes will be available at the church or memorial contributions may be mailed to Sandborn Memorial Park Fund, c/o Knox County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 273, Vincennes, IN 47591.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Sandborn United Methodist Church, 207 N. Vine St., with the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Sandborn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday.
