Louise Shirley Cruse, 91, of Lincoln, Neb., and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014, in the Martin House of Tabitha in Lincoln. She was born in Adair County, Ky., on April 5, 1923, to Samson Browning and Kate Antle Browning. On June 21, 1941, she married Herman Leslie Cruse, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2000. Mrs. Cruse retired from Reuben H. Donnelley in Terre Haute.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Bretz (husband Randall) of Lincoln, and Polly Duke (her husband, William H. Duke, passed away in August 2003), of Carmel. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Andrew Bretz of Lincoln; Jason Bretz of Princeton, Minn.; Benjamin Bretz of Austin, Texas; and Thomas Duke and Amy Duke, both of Carmel; as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Monday, June 9, 2014, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2014, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
