ALLENDALE, Ill. — Danny J. Garvin (Big Pastor Dan), 62, of Allendale, Ill., went to live with Jesus on Saturday, May 31, 2014. He will forever be missed by his wife, Donna, of 42 years; son, Matthew, of Leroy, Ill.; and a daughter, Melissa, of Carlsbad, Calif.
On April 17, 1952, he came into the lives of George and Louise Garvin, in Paris, Ill. On Saturday, they were waiting for him at the pearly gates along with his sister, Vicki Sue Moore. He leaves behind his brother, Ed and wife Linda, who reside in West Monroe, La.; four nephews, George, Toby, Ben and Allen; and two nieces, Tonya and Angel.
Over the years, Big Pastor Dan served many churches. But his true passion became The Heart of Hope House Food Pantry in Allendale, Ill. He was a light in this world, a giver of his heart and a blessing to so many people. He could make you laugh when you were sad and could touch your heart with a single word.
Per his request, there will be a celebration of life party for him from 2 until 5 p.m. on June 22, 2014, at the Ruritan Community Building in Allendale, Ill., with sharing beginning at 3 p.m. You are encouraged to share your memories and stories about how he touched your life. Like Big Dan always said, “It’s all about Jesus!”
