C. Doyle Piety

PRAIRIE CREEK — C. Doyle Piety, of Prairie Creek, passed away at 5:16 a.m. July 9, 2014, at Union Hospital. He was born in Clay County, Ind., on Aug. 17, 1925, to Cassius and Lula (Turner) Piety. He was a cement mason and was a longtime member of the Cement Mason Local, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Washington, a 1943 graduate of Prairie Creek High School, and a member of Prairie Creek American Legion Post 404. He also repaired all kinds of clocks.

He is survived by his two dogs, Snickers and Calvin. His family members include his wife, Rose Mary (Inks) Piety, whom he was married on June 5, 1969; daughters, Kathy Sontag and husband Rudy, Vickie Brooks and husband Mike, and Tammie Rooney and husband Patrick; son, Bruce Ripple and wife Dee; a sister, Doretta Brown; his grandchildren, Sean (Kelly) Rooney, Ryan (Angelica) Rooney, Daniel (Christina) Rooney, Michael Rooney, Matthew Rooney, Robert (Stacey) Bennett, Stacy Bennett, Lisa (Mark) Harig, David (April) Ripple, Tymothy (Jami) Ripple, Dennis (Heather) Cummins, and Wayne Douglas (Jennifer) Cummins; great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Vanessa Rooney, and Sonny Rooney, Gavin Rooney, Leah Seo, Casey, Cole, Caden Bennett, Cody Burgess, Brittnay Woods, Jessica Harig, Delane Holley, Kyle, Jaden, Dominic, and Lori Ripple, Mahara Ripple, Aurora Ripple, Oluf Cummins, James Cummins, Kennedy Cummins, and Madison Cummins; and his great-great-grandchildren Aubriella Allen, Tristan, Harley, Skylar, and Samuel Holley.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with family members speaking and Veterans of Foreign Wars 972 conducting military rites. Calling will be from noon until services.
