Juanita Sue Scholz

TERRE HAUTE — Juanita Sue Scholz, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on Oct. 14, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Raymond and Cleo (Alward) Johnston. She married Erwin Scholz on March 13, 1949, and together they raised two children.

Juanita loved being surrounded by her family. She was a “Super Fan” of ISU Basketball from the Larry Bird Era until this past season. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing racquetball and doing crafts.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Deborah May; her son, Dan Scholz and his wife Becky; grandchildren, Shelby Felmet and her husband Jeff, Matthew May and his wife Carrie, Jeremy Scholz and his wife Sabrina, Kevin Scholz and his wife Courtney, and Kyle Scholz; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ian Felmet, Carter and Garrett May, Beckett and Campbell Scholz; sisters, Margaret Ann Mock and her husband Ronald, and Lahoma Moshner; in-laws, Bonnie and Earl Wells, and Charlotte Tager; special friends, Christy Lofland, Sylvia McCowen, Renee Schoults, and Linda Carter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, R.E. Johnston Jr.; son-in-law, Richard May; brothers-in-law, Buddy Moshner, Bob Tager, and Edward Scholz; and her special friend, Terry Frey.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Brett Wilson officiating. Burial will take place on Sunday at Sunset Memorial Park in Evansville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Gentiva, 3401 S. 4th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
