TERRE HAUTE —
Bernaldo Mahor, 88, of Terre Haute, and formerly of Hawaii, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013. Bernaldo was born July 16, 1925, in the Philippines, to Patricio and Carmen Ranche Mahor.
Bernaldo worked as a gardener on a Hawaiian plantation for many years before coming to Terre Haute to be with his family.
He was a member of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Terre Haute. Bernaldo loved to garden, especially when he was tending to the orchids that he cherished so much. He enjoyed dancing and playing bingo whenever he was able to, but most of all he loved the sunshine of Hawaii, which was his home for many years.
Bernaldo was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife, Albina Afuan Mahor; two brothers, Jovencia, and Andres Mahor; two sisters, Damasa and Esther Mahor. He also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Nana T. Dorrecel Mahor. He is survived by one son, Rogelio A. Mahor Sr. and his wife Gloria Ho Mahor; two sisters, Bernabella Salcedo and her husband Jose, and Marciana Navarette and her husband Simeon. He also is survived by three grandchildren, Rogelio T. Mahor Jr., Rogeno T. Mahor, and Rona Mahor; as well as many other friends, family, and loved ones.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2405 S. Seventh St., with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St., in Terre Haute. A private family burial will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill. Online condolences may be made at:
