Brenda Jane (Johnston) Raia

BRAZIL — Brenda Jane (Johnston) Raia, 69, of Brazil, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 18, 2014, surrounded by her family at her home. Brenda was born March 17, 1944, the daughter of the late Arthur and Evelyn Johnston. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1962. Following high school she attended a business college in Terre Haute for two years. Brenda was employed at the Indiana State House in Indianapolis. She more recently worked at Great Dane Trailers in data processing, where she retired after 28 years of service.

She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, in Brazil. She enjoyed shopping, especially on QVC, and having spa days with her special friend, Amanda Mayberry. She also enjoyed crocheting, but most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Brenda also is preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Joan Johnston, and Patty Ray Stangle; niece, Raetta Joan Stangle; and brother-in-law, Bob Stangle.

She is survived by her daughter, Kia Head and husband Wilbur; grandchildren, Amanda Head, Wilbur Head II, and Chelsey Head; stepgranddaughter, Brandi Patterson; stepgreat-grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, Emiley, and Sage; brother, Edward “Butch” Johnston and wife Dawn; sister, Cheryl Tarpley; nephews, Shawn, Scott, Brad, Adam, Rob, and David; as well as extended family and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at French Funeral Home, with brother Jacob Raubuch officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Southern Care Hospice, 4624 S.
