C. Michael Beatty

CLINTON — C. Michael Beatty, 50, of rural Clinton, was born into eternal life on Jan. 3, 2014. Michael was born on April 24, 1963, the son of Carl E. Beatty and Mary C. (Craig) Beatty.

Michael was an avid outdoorsman, and spent hours in the woods with his Akitas.   He loved music, was a singer-composer, and was a certified sound technician traveling with bands. He lived in the United Kingdom for a period of time while pursuing a career in music. He loved the theater and the arts. Mr. Beatty was a member of various mystery theater and acting groups. Mike was employed with several security companies, was a weapons trainer and a courier. He attended Indiana State University and Indiana University with an interest in pre-law. Michael was proud of his Native American heritage and studied the ways of the people. He lived with the Sioux at one time, and participated in their ceremonies, cherishing his gifts from them. Michael was a devoted Catholic, and a member of Sacred Heart Church since his baptism in 1963.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Catherine Beatty of Clinton; father, Carl E. (Lois) Beatty of Rockville; brother, Craig John Beatty of Clinton; a beloved niece, Rainie Beatty-Robinson; and great-niece Iris of Texas. Mr. Beatty also is survived by his  uncle-godfather and aunt, Mike and Becky Craig; paternal uncle, David R. Beatty; cousins, Mika Craig-Cinotto, Dana Craig-Gudino, Erin Craig, Ritchie Beatty, Rodney Beatty, Steven Beatty, John Beatty, Linda Beatty-Jackson, Joy Beatty-Sanders, Susan Beatty-Levay; and godmother, Donna M. Hollingsworth. Michael was preceded in death by grandparents, Jack and Katie (Vallosia) Craig, Carl and Madeline (Sanders) Beatty; friend and band member, Brian Donahue; and faithful Akita, Sabbath.

A private family celebration of life will be held. Michael’s friends and music buddies have created a memorial Facebook page (Mike Beatty Memorial) and plan to share music memories at a later jam. His family suggests that he be remembered for his laughter, sense of humor, singing, kindness to animals and helping friends in need. Please plant a tree or butterfly bush in his memory. In memory of Mike’s devotion to animal protection, and rescue memorial contributions may be made to the Parke-Vermillion Humane Shelter P.O.
