Larry Scott

TERRE HAUTE — Larry Scott, 75, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013. Larry was born and reared in Terre Haute. Larry was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Terre Haute, to the late Dean and Wilma Dougherty Scott.

Larry received his education from Garfield High School, class of 1955. After graduation, he attended Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Ill., as well as taking classes at Indiana State University. His first employment began at age 13, on his first day of high school, working at the (Frank) Coplan Drug Store in Twelve Points. Larry ministered to churches in southern Illinois, Shelburn, and Maplewood Christian Church as a minister of music and seniors. He has most recently ministered at North Terre Haute Christian Church for eight years. He also has filled the pulpit for many local and nearby churches when the minister was away for a short time. Besides ministering at various churches, Larry has been very active in the music ministry of various churches. During these years, he also worked two years for First Financial Bank, and was a branch manager at Valley Federal Bank at Meadows Shopping Center. His major role in banking was with Merchants Savings Association (now known as Fifth Third Bank), where he worked for 28 years. The last several years were spent at “his” branch at 2511 Poplar Street, where he was branch manager from the building of that banking center until he left banking for full-time ministry. Larry made many lasting friendships during his banking career.

Larry married the former Jane Fuson in 1962. The couple has three children, Christopher and his wife Dawn of Carrolton, Ga., Craig and his wife Antoinette of Naples, Fla., and Carrie Lindsay and her husband Dane of West Terre Haute. Larry and Jane also have four grandchildren, Brian and Leigh Scott and Ashlyn and Dylan Arnold. He also is survived by one sister, Jan Cutter and her husband Ralph of Terre Haute; as well as many other friends, family, and loved ones.

Visitation for Larry will be held Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 2 until 6 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street. A private graveside service will be on Monday, July 15, 2013. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the North Terre Haute Christian Church, or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at:
