Helen Louise Fields Poole Schuur

TERRE HAUTE — Helen Louise Fields Poole Schuur, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away at 4:11 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Terre Haute. She retired from Jeff Boat in Jeffersonville, where she worked as a welder for many years. She was born June 23, 1922, in Terre Haute, to John Fields and Mary M. Walker Fields. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Schuur in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, James Poole and wife Brenda of Marshall, Ill., and Ronald Schuur and wife Carolyn of Jeffersonville; five daughters, Shirley Creasey and husband Terry, Janet King and Deborah Brenton, all of Terre Haute, and Harriet Ohman and husband Robert of Cresent City, Calif., and Mary Townsend of Oregon; 17 grandchildren, Jimmie (Kerrie) Archer, Brian Archer, Starla Archer (Jerod), Daniel Brenton (Elizabeth), Misty Spears, Buffy (James) Ready, Sheila (Damon) Smith, Jason Schuur, Nicole Schuur, Stacy Schuur, Dave (Deresa) Brenton, Kenneth Townsend, Becky Poole, Sherry Vogler, Mike Calhoun (Connie), Rich Calhoun (Robin), Angie (Fred) Moorcraft; 36 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her father, John Fields in 1960; her mother, Mary M. Walker Fields Haddox in 1953; two grandsons, Mark Creasey and Jimmy Poole; and a granddaughter, Linda Gourgues.

Helen was a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Westside Ladies Red Hat Society, and Order of Eastern Star West Terre Haute Chapter 428.

Funeral services for Helen will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with Pastor Clyde Gregg officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with an OES memorial service at 7 p.m. by Chapter 428. There also will be visitation prior to services on Saturday.
