TERRE HAUTE —
Mary Frances Tuberosa, 75, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at her home. She was born on March 11, 1938, in Paris, to John Anthony and Anna Theresa (Osella) Tuberosa. She graduated from Garfield High School and Indiana State Teacher’s College. She was a member of A.O. Pi Sorority.
Mary was a retired school teacher and taught first grade and kindergarten at Greenwood and West Vigo Elementary School. Her students were very close to her heart, and she treated them like they were her own children. Mary kept in close contact with many of her students long after she retired, remembering their birthdays and attending their weddings. Her former students fondly recall Mary as an exceptional teacher who left a positive impact on their lives. She received a plaque in honor of her retirement from West Vigo Elementary that reads, “For the Love and Care You Gave Our Kindergartners, That Says it All.” Mary’s greatest joy came from touching the lives of her students, educating and encouraging them, every step of the way.
Mary is survived by her sister, Katherine Tuberosa; and several cousins, David Osella of Clinton, Donna McLeish of Las Vegas, Pete Secondino of Terre Haute, John Tuberosa of Terre Haute, Tom Tuberosa, Pam Tuberosa, and Rick Tuberosa, all of Florida, Pete Varda of Brazil, and Theresa Ann Secondino of Munster. As to the love of her two constant companions, Sammie and Taylor, “There are no words!”
Mary’s family would like to express sincere appreciation for the support and care given by Hospice of the Wabash Valley and Hands that Serve.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation was chosen. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 7 until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Roselawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 S.
