CLAY CITY —
Allen “Al” McKamey, 74, of Clay City, passed away July 21, 2013, at home following a battle with cancer. Al was born, one of 12 children, on Feb. 13, 1939, the son of Arley E. McKamey and Dorothy (Sutton) McKamey. He graduated from Ashboro High School with the class of 1957. During high school, he was a member of the Ashboro High School basketball team.
Al worked for Columbia House, in Terre Haute, for 40 years and retired in 1997. During his tenure at CBS he worked in many capacities; however, most of his career was spent as director of distribution and most recently as the director of video fulfillment.
Al loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed helping others, mowing, gardening and building. After retiring from CBS, he worked for Bob Burkle, driving vehicles and attending auctions.
Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy McKamey; son, Jeff McKamey and wife Sandy; daughter, Lisa Thatcher and husband Mark; grandchildren, Joshua McKamey, Nichole Criss, Kasi Thatcher and Garrett Thatcher and wife Chandra; great-grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Jennifer, and Wesley; two sisters, Linda Duckwall and Arlene McKamey; and two brothers, Vern McKamey and Robert McKamey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Brian Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
