John “Fred” Lash, 90, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at his home in Knightsville surrounded by his family. He was born May 20, 1923, in Cory, to John and Christine Lash. Fred graduated from Cory High School before serving his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He later worked for Quaker Maid Foods, and was an active member of Knightsville United Methodist Church as well as a member of the odd Fellows. Fred enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling and watching Cardinal baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Harold “Bud” Lash, Mable Pell Hapenny, Charles “Charlie” Lash, Marvin Lash, Eva Searcy, Donald Lash and Robert Lash. Survivors include his wife, Selma Lash of Knightsville; sons, John (Mary) Lash of Brazil and Dennis (Janet) Lash of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Slater, Rusty Lash, John Matthew Lash, and Joshua Lash; and great-grandchildren, Hayden Slater, Hank Slater, Hannah Slater, and Eli Lash.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., in Brazil, with Pastor Andy Charmstrom officiating and burial to follow at Van Cleve Cemetery in Center Point.
