Lawrence A. ‘Lance’ Stone

WEST UNION, Ill. — Lawrence A. “Lance” Stone, 37, of West Union, passed away Saturday evening, April 13, 2012, from the results of a single-vehicle accident near Darwin. Mr. Stone, a volunteer firefighter of the West Union Fire District, was en route to a fire while serving his community. He was born June 11, 1975, in Paris, the son of Thomas L. and Theresa Mattingly Stone. He married Linda Lawhead on June 30, 2012.

Surviving are his wife; his parents of Marshall; five children, Alexandra Lauren Stone, Aaron Jacob Stone, Hayley Marie Stone, Leslie Renee Stone and Kaylah Rae Stone; a stepdaughter, Brittany Nicole Correll; two brothers, Jeremy (Amy) Stone of Fishers, Ind., and Daniel (Reeda) Stone of Indianapolis; grandparents, Larry and Ramona Mattingly of Paris, and Vineta Stone of Marshall; one niece and two nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles “Bud” Stone and Juanita Stone.

He was employed by Stone Builders of Marshall, and was the owner of River Bend Creation. He loved to fish and hunt. He was a graduate of Marshall High School.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. CDT Saturday at Forsythe Cemetery, in rural Marshall. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, in Marshall. A firefighter’s walkthrough will be 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Lance Stone Memorial Fund.
