Edna L. Sandberg

TERRE HAUTE — Edna L. Sandberg, 96, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Washington, IL on Monday, July 2, 2012. Her beautiful smile is now shining with her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born Feb. 2, 1916 in Terre Haute, IN to Myrtle Clayton Bachstein and Edward Bachstein. She married Kreag Sandberg Feb. 22 1936, who preceded her to heaven.

Living on to celebrate Edna's life are two sons Robert (Patricia) of Crawfordville, FL. and Donald (Jeannette) of Ada, MI and one daughter Sharon (Larry) Wilson of Washington, IL. She had 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 nieces whom, as with all her family and friends, were in her daily prayers.

Edna’s greatest priorities were her Christian Faith and her family. She always said “God made the family.” She was valedictorian at Garfield High School in 1933 at the age of 17. She was a beautician in her home shop for 32 years. She was so thankful for the Lord allowing her to continue to have clarity of thought through her physical adversity. Edna read her Bible through many times, loved teaching children in Sunday School and attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years.

Her interests were varied: She loved her friends, her Bible Study, sports, music and art. Edna learned to play the piano at age 60, and started oil painting at age 70. She painted many beautiful free-hand paintings.

Being a “prayer warrior” for anyone in need was her passion. Her smile radiated a room. She lived her life and faced death with such Dignity, Grace, and Faith.

We will miss her beautiful smile and loving-giving heart. Her smile now radiates heaven as her Lord has called His jewel home to be with him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2012 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Harold Throckmartin officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2012 in the funeral home.
