MARSHALL, Ill. —
MARSHALL, Ill. — Jack Walter Crane, 90, of Marshall, passed away at 3:58 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Union Hospital, in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born on Nov. 29, 1922, in Bushton, Ill., the son of Walter Voss Crane and Ida Mary Morris Crane. On March 27, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo., he married Cora Ellen Bennett.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Cora Crane of Marshall; his children, Sharon Ann Sharp of E. Carondelet, Ill., Mary Alice DeBarba of Berryton, Kan., Ray Crane and wife Janice of Martinsville, Ill., Roy Crane and wife Cathy of Martinsville, Barbara Peugh and husband Marvin of Milledgeville, Ill., and Jack Stephen Crane and wife Patty of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; infant brother, Jesse Crane; sisters, Ida Pauline Daugherty and Maxine Sanford; sons-in-law, David Sharp and Ronald DeBarba; and grandson, Michael Watson.
Mr. Crane was a lifetime agricultural farmer and livestock producer, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Five Points Christian Church in Clark Center, Ill., and a member of the Marshall Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. CDT on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., in Martinsville, with the Rev. Larry Morecraft officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, in Martinsville, with graveside military rites by Marshall VFW Post 5975. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the funeral home.
