TERRE HAUTE —
Mary Katherine Poling, 98, formerly of Rockville, passed away peacefully in her residence at Meadows Manor North in Terre Haute on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. She was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Grange Corner, Parke County, daughter of Owen R. Hixson and Helen Youngblood Hixson. She was raised by her grandparents, O.E. and Minnie Youngblood.
She graduated from Kingman High School in 1932. She worked as a young lady at Turkey Run Inn in the State Park, where she met James Donald Poling, who also was employed by Turkey Run Inn. They were married March 30, 1938, and he preceded her on June 29, 2006. She had worked many years at Insley Drug Store in Rockville.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Parke Youngblood. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Terry) Kuebler of Evansville, and Patricia (Greg) Lohrmann of Rockville; one brother, Maurice Hobson of Dade City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Matthew (Shawna) Kuebler, Julie (Rick) Davis, Ehren (Niki) Lohrmann, and Shannon (Paul) Beczkiewicz; as well as four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home, 218 North College Street, in Rockville, with Pastor Dale Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Marshall, Ind. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James and Mary Kay Poling Legacy Fund, c/o Parke County Community Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
