Wilma Fern O’Rourke

MARSHALL, Ill. — Wilma Fern O’Rourke, 85, of Marshall, passed away 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at her home. She was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Clark County, the daughter of Lester Curtis and Nellie Bartley Curtis. She married William R. O’Rourke on April 10, 1947, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1992.

Surviving are her children, Mary Jane (Jerry) DeBlois of Normal, Terry (Jennie) O’Rourke, Theresa (Ray) Durst, Mike O’Rourke, and Marty O’Rourke, all of Marshall; her grandchildren, Dawn (Dave) Jonen of Hanover Park, and their children, Ben, Sammy and Theo; Jason O’Rourke of Marshall; Alissa (Logan) Tipton of Marshall, and their children, Ahnna and Harrison; Camille (Travis) Rollins of Newburgh, Ind., and their children, DeeAnna, Ethan, Bryn, Trevor and Mia; Bettina Martin of Marshall, Maggie (Justin) Patrick and their children Ashyln and Logan Faith and Emily (Travis) Akers and their children, Tyler and Taylor Kathleen; three brothers-in-law, Bill Weston of Florida, Joe O’Rourke of Marshall, and Tony (Gay) O’Rourke of Chanute, Kans.; a sister-in-law, Barbara “Jean” Galardi of Chicago; an aunt, Gertrude Strohm of Paris; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carmel Jones on April 7, 2003; and a grandson, Sean Michael O’Rourke on May 12, 2005.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall, and was active in helping at the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank. For many years she worked the night shift at Burnsides Nursing Home where she took much pride in taking care of others.

Mass of the Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. CST Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Marshall, with the Rev. Mike Haag officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, with a liturgical wake service at 4 p.m. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank or to the Marshall Public Library.
