TERRE HAUTE —
Lucy Mae Bensinger, 96, of Terre Haute, our beloved mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at I.U. Health, Methodist Hospital. Lucy was born in Newton, Iowa, on July 11, 1916, the daughter of the late George and Lois (Neal) Uncapher. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Nolan Bensinger, who passed away in September of 1982.
Lucy retired from Columbia House Records and enjoyed staying very active. Lucy could be found visiting nursing homes, bowling and even roller skating into her 80’s. She was very involved with the AARP and HIS Place Christian Activity Center. Lucy was a devoted servant of the Lord and a faithful member of the Terre Haute First Church of the Nazarene. She truly had a servant’s heart of gold and greatly enjoyed volunteering. Lucy’s smile, caring and cheerful personality will live on in the hearts of those she loved for generations to come.
She leaves behind her two sons, Russell A. and wife Karla Bensinger of Terre Haute, and Jerry G. Johnston of Pasadena, Calif.; grandson, John and wife Crystal Bensinger of Plainfield; and one great-grandson, Austin. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucy was welcomed home to heaven by her sisters, Uhla Ennis, Una Mahaffey and Madge Weatherwax.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home. Lucy’s funeral ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the funeral home, with interment following in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in memory of Lucy may be directed to the Crisis Pregnancy Center. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at:
