TERRE HAUTE —
Wanita May Bare, 86, of Terre Haute went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2012. Wanita was born on April 8, 1926 near Cory, Indiana in Clay County to William and Hazel Waggoner Kiefner.
She was graduated from Cory High School in 1944 and was employed for 18 years by S.S. Kresge 5c & 10c Store in downtown Terre Haute. In 1949 she met and married Kenneth Bare who preceded her in death February 11, 1980. Also preceding her in death were her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Helen Redifer Kiefner; and a step-son, Ronnie Joe Bare.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Bare, Jr.; niece, Jacquelyn Fox and her husband James; great-nieces, Jennifer Hessig, Jill Mason, Jo Knoblett and great-nephew, Jack Fox and their families; step-daughters, Wanda Burress, Wilma Abel, Nancy Padgett; step-son, Jack Bare; several step-grandchildren; special neighbors, Christina and Greg Hughes; and friends, Bob Burskey and Betty Stevens.
Wanita was dearly loved and greatly respected by all who knew her. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 29, 2012 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Warren D. Whittington officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Monday from 12:00 Noon- 2:00 P.M.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 9097 East Sugar Grove Drive, Terre Haute, Indiana 47803.
