Wilma Marie Howard

CASEY, Ill. — Wilma Marie Howard, 81, of Casey, entered her Heavenly home at 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Heartland Nursing Center, in Casey. She was born May 18, 1933, in Casey, the daughter of John W. Fain and Almira “Marie” Biggs Fain. On June 9, 1951 she married Leon Stratton Howard in Casey, and they just celebrated their 63rd Anniversary.

Survivors include her husband, Leon of Casey; son, Steve Howard and wife Vicky of Casey; daughters, Sue Wernz and husband Jim of West Union, Ill., and Pam Klingler and husband Mark of Charleston, Ill.; brother, Don Fain and wife Norma of Casey; sister, Wanda Winters and husband Howard of Casey; brother-in-law, Larry Howard and wife Gloria of Casey; grandchildren, Heather Howard, Taylor Howard (companion, Lindsay Nichols), Chasity (Nick) Christopulos, Kim (Frank) Sikorski, Alex (Jacky) Wernz, Zachary Klingler and Joshua Klingler; great-grandchildren, Austin and Jayden Sikorski, Corbin and Connor Christopulos and Wiley Wernz; and special lifetime friend, Iris McComas. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gene Fain; and sister, Elsie Grissom.

Wilma was a former switchboard operator for the Casey Telephone Company and had worked at Casey IGA as deli manager. She also sold Avon products for a while. Wilma was a lifetime member of Casey White Oak Church of God. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon CDT on Monday, June 16, 2014, at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., in Casey, with the Revs. Tom Toner and Larry Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery, in Casey. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 noon prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire for the services. Memorials may be made to Casey White Oak Church of God, Mission Team, 3305 East 1000th Rd, Casey, IL 62420.
