SULLIVAN — Richard Lee “Dick” Cox, of Ashwood Place in Frankfort, Ky., passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2013. from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He retired from the Farmer’s Home Administration, in Sullivan, and was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy.
Dick married Martha E. Spaulding in 1954. They were fortunate enough to recently celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary. They previously resided in Sullivan, where they raised their family but moved to Frankfort several years ago to live near their daughter, Nancy Ault. Dick and Martha spent many years together traveling throughout the United States with their children in tow. He was a family man who loved to fish and camp and shared his love of nature with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by wife Martha E. Spaulding Cox of Frankfort; son Daniel Wayne Cox of Cripple Creek, Colo.; two daughters, Nancy Cox Ault of Frankfort and Linda Cox Nath of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, James Allen Cox.
He will be missed greatly by his family and friends who knew him well and appreciated his gentle spirit and dry wit.
