Dorothy Woody, 89, of Terre Haute and formerly of Bloomingdale, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 29, 2013, at Cobblestone Crossing Health Center. She was born March 9, 1924, in Montezuma, to Roy and Mabel Smith Willhite. She was married to Milton Woody for 71 years, he passed away July 4, 2013.
Survivors include three sons, David Woody (Nancy) of Lawrenceville, N.J., Donald Woody (Sue) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dennis Woody of Hanahan, S.C.; one brother, Leighton Willhite of Rockville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Carol Ann; and brother, Frank Willhite.
She was the head cook for Bloomingdale schools and then Turkey Run schools, and was formerly employed at Child Adult Resource Services, in Rockville. She attended school in Montezuma.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, in Bloomingdale; former district deputy and 50-year-plus member of Hedges Chapter 51 Order of Eastern Star, in Bloomingdale; and was an artist and member of the Covered Bridge Art Association.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, in Rockville. Burial is at Bloomingdale Cemetery, in Bloomingdale. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the funeral home, with an OES memorial service at 6:30 p.m.
