Jerry M. Walker

BRAZIL — Jerry M. Walker, 64, of Brazil, passed away Oct. 22, 2013, at Union Hospital following heart surgery. He was born Feb. 24, 1949, in Clay County, the son of Walt and Clara Wilson Walker. He graduated from Brazil High School, class of 1967.  

On Aug. 2, 1968, he was united in marriage to Carol Wright Walker and they have enjoyed life together.

As a young man, Jerry worked at the Brazil Clay Plant, and then did maintenance work at Marion Brick. He worked for a time at J.I. Case as a welder before the plant closed. For the last several years, Jerry has owned “Walker’s Garage.” He was well known as a mechanic who could fix anything.  

Jerry and Carol enjoyed riding their Harley Heritage motorcycle on both short local trips and long trips with their close friends. Carol stated that “Jerry has always been good to me and we have had a wonderful life together.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Evelyn Nelson, Mary Walker, and Sandy Walker.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Walker; daughter, Heather Padgett and her husband Josh of Springhill, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michael Corn, Landon Fulk and Parker Fulk; brothers, Sonny Walker of Terre Haute and Howard Walker of Brazil; sisters, Phyllis Shaffer and husband Bob, Sharon Mishon, and Janet Walker of Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, including, Steve and Sindy Phillips, Ralph and Debbie Mustard, Terry Harrison, Robin and Bernie Timberman, John and Vickie Burk, Jerry and Joan Brewer, Jackie and Summer Brewer, Alan and Lisa Pell, John and Peggy Irwin, Scott and Glenda Burnett, and Tonya and Bobby Hatton.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., in Brazil, with Pastor Bob Nevins officiating. Visitation is from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Cremation will follow. Light a candle at: www.lawson-millerchapel.com
