Lauren V. McBride

TERRE HAUTE — Lauren V. McBride (”Laurie” to all who knew and loved her), long-time resident of Vigo County, was born on Jan. 18 1948, in Peoria, Ill., to Helen J. (May) and Frank J. Wing Jr., who preceded her in death, and she lived in many parts of the country. After a brief and unexpected illness, she passed away at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, crossing the Rainbow Bridge to join the many departed humans and animals who loved her in life.

Laurie was a devoted and dearly-beloved wife, partner, friend and mother, who leaves behind her stricken husband John McBride and the many cats and wildlife whom she rescued and loved and cared for, all of whom miss her terribly. Over 20 years, she was wholly or partially responsible for saving hundreds of domestic felines.

She also is survived by three sisters and their families, Becky (and Bob) Raines of New Mexico, Jay (and Don) Greenwell of Missouri, and Wendy (and Joe) Legeckis of Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

At her direction, there will be no service, and no flowers are requested. She will be cremated by Simple Cremations and Burials in Clinton, and her ashes will be scattered around the shelter building which she so lovingly helped to create and maintain for the cats rescued by her and her husband. For the sake of those animals, it is hoped that tax-deductible memorial donations will be made to Ouabache Valley Felines & Friends, Inc., at 7300 E. Devonald Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47805; and her family gratefully acknowledges all these, too numerous to mentions who have already made such donations. If any well-wishers, donors, or potential adopters should wish to come to the above address, it is respectfully requested that they wait to do so until a sufficient period of time for mourning has passed; and then that they call ahead, leaving a message if necessary, at (812) 466-9808 to arrange a mutually-convenient time to do so.
