TERRE HAUTE —
Alfred Cornelius Joyner, 57, of Terre Haute, made his transition Oct. 1, 2013, at 11:20 p.m. He was born June 18, 1956, to Lorris Inez Clopton (Joyner). His earlier years were spent in Terre Haute, but he and his mom moved to Chicago, where he received his formal education and earned a diploma from Unity High School. He made a living as a lawn care specialist until his health failed him.
Alfred was preceded in death by his sister, Lorris Michele Bass; and his mother.
He leaves to cherish his memory his stepfather, James Clopton; daughter, Ebony Wallace and husband Marc; grandchildren, Asha, Marc Aaron and Caleb; brother, James Bass; nieces, Neesha and Nyla; nephew, Philip Lambert; great-nephew, Alijah; and a host of cousins too numerous to name.
Services are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in DeBaun Funeral Home, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m., with funeral from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
