MARSHALL, Ill. —
Dorothy M. Dardeen, 89, of Harrisburg and formerly of Marshall, passed away 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Burnsides Community Care Center, in Marshall. She was born May 4, 1924, in Herrin, the daughter of Clarence Shemwell and Clara Popham Shemwell.
Surviving are her loving husband, whom she married Aug. 16, 1946, Virgil F. Dardeen; her loving children, Phillip (Iris) Dardeen of Marshall, Denny Dardeen of Muddy, David (Ronda) Dardeen of West Terre Haute, Ind., Bill Dardeen of Harrisburg, and Pam (Joe) McGuire of Marshall; her loving grandchildren, Quenby Sherrill, Ryan McGuire, Jessica Dardeen, Shaun McGuire, Amanda Stanford, Matt Dardeen, Shawn Magnetti, Josh Dardeen and Ashley Dardeen; her loving great-grandchildren, Kaylee Sherrill, Nicholas Sherrill, Kiernen Dardeen, Logan Griffin, Blake Stanford, Hailey McGuire, Payton McGuire, Hanna Gorrell, Kensley Stanford, Mason McGuire and Preslie Dardeen; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Shemwell. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad McGuire; and her siblings, George Shemwell, Verlie Hogan, Shirley Lowery and Clarence Shemwell Jr.
Services in honor of her life will be 7 p.m. CDT Thursday at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., with Brother Paul Burress officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday, at Lindale Memorial Gardens, in Eldorado. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time Thursday.
