ROSEDALE — William E. Gilly, 78, of Fairborn, Ohio, and formerly of Rosedale, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Wright Nursing, in Fairborn. He was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Kars Fork, Ky., to Henry and Dora (Viers) Gilly. William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Gilly’s Ice Cream Stand on U.S. 41 for many years. He was an active member of the Zorah Shrine when he lived in Terre Haute, often driving children to the Shriner’s Hospital. William loved to work, even after he retired. He enjoyed keeping busy.
William is survived by his children, Barbara Foster and husband Mark, Beverly Carter, Brenda Mullins, James Ryans and wife Marianne, and Billy Joe Gilly; siblings, Earl Gilly and wife Faye, Louise and Elby, Carl Gilly, Betty Davis and husband Owen, and Paul Gilly; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Faye Gilly; a son, Tommy Ryans; siblings, James Gilly and Irene Gilly; and grandchildren, Tommy and Johnny.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Kyle Andrews officiating.
