LINTON — James P. “Jim” Nolan, age 72, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at his residence, in Linton. He was born in Linton, on Jan. 6, 1941, the son of Kenneth James and Dorcus (Birch) Nolan. He was a plumber/steamfitter out of Local 157, in Terre Haute, Ind., working in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky. He was a member of St. Peter Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Linton. He enjoyed landscaping and was very creative with his hands. He loved bird watching and was a conservationist. Jim was an Indianapolis Colts enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda (Rode) Nolan; five daughters, April Nolan of Fishers, Tracie (Francois) Lebel of Durham, Ontario, Elise (Michael) Walter of Greenville, N.C., Holly (Jon) Goodson of Linton, and Noel (Shane) Baker of Bloomington; grandchildren, Nolan Lebel, Griffin Hamlin, Jarrett Hamlin, and Parker Walter; and two sisters, Jane Sollars, and Kathy (Steve) Priest, all of Linton.
He was preceded by his parents.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Father Michael Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, and Thursday from 9 to 10:15 a.m., also at the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent to:
