ROSEDALE — Harriet Virostko, 90, of Rosedale, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, in her residence. She was a retired registered nurse having worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital OB department in Terre Haute, a private care nurse, and the school nurse for Southwest Parke Community Schools. She was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Warren, Minn., to the late Charles Waltzer and Mary Devere Hammond Waltzer.
Her husband of 61 years, Sam Virostko, whom she married May 19, 1944 in Terre Haute, died on Oct. 11, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Nick (Anne) Virostko of Nashville, Tenn.; five daughters, Julia Myers of West Terre Haute, Mary Camp of Terre Haute, Nancy Kessans of Salem, Carol Ahern of Brazil, and Linda (John) Bailey of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, Jack Virostko, Katie Virostko, Jenny Virostko, William (Leah) Myers, Sarah Kessans, Emily Kessans, Megan Ahern, Devin Ahern, Scott Bailey, Mitchell Bailey, Cathy Manning, and Charlie (Melanie) Myers; nine great-grandchildren, Beth Myers, Shawn Wright, Devon Myers, Austin Myers, Sierra Myers, Sam Ornes, Alice Ornes, Harry Ornes and Kadence Virostko; one great-great-grandson, Ray Myers.
She was a 1940 graduate of Rosedale High School and a 1944 graduate of St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Terre Haute. She was a member of Nightingales retired nursing group and Rosedale Home Economics club.
Services will be 11 am Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, in Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, in Rosedale, with the Rev. Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may sign an online register at:
