Alberta ‘Bert’ Faye Price

TERRE HAUTE — Alberta “Bert” Faye Price passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at 8 a.m. in her home surrounded by her family. Alberta was born Jan. 13, 1934, in West Terre Haute, to Lloyd and Opha Montgomery. She married Willard E. Price on Oct. 24, 1951.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her parents; a daughter, Pam; daughter-in-law, Mary Price; great-grandson, Korben Moore; brothers, Ray and Jerry Montgomery; and sisters, Olive Walters, and Beverly Trench. She is survived by her children, Danny Price and his wife Kathy of Coloma, Karen Fisk and her husband Jay of West Terre Haute, Randy Price of Shepardsville, his ex-wife, Joy Holland of Columbus, Ohio; as well as his special friend, Sarah Joy of Terre Haute: Kathy Moore of Shepardsville and her special friend Jack Arnold of Evansville; Kevin Price of Coloma, and Kimberley VanLannen and her husband Jeff of Shepardsville; 14 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Alberta also is survived by her sisters, Rose Elkins and her husband Bob of Terre Haute and Ellen Leigh of West Terre Haute; and a brother, Rick Montgomery and his wife Pat of Sturgis, Ky.; sisters-in-law, June Brown of Paris, Ill., Peggy Montgomery of Corydon, and Sandy Montgomery of Bicknell; and many nieces and nephews.  

Alberta was a “Mother” to many children in her life including the Griffin and Penn families and Kenny Anderson and had special friends including Linda and Harry Sell of West Terre Haute and Gail Arnold of Evansville.

Alberta enjoyed cooking, poetry, sewing, and her birds. She was well known for her homemade yeast rolls. She also enjoyed her time spent at McMillan Adult Day Care with the many friends she made.

Funeral services for Alberta will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with Pastor Mark Houvenagle officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McMillan Adult Day Care in memory of “Bert” with envelopes available in the funeral home.
