Dorothy Rose ‘Dottie’ Shapland Philabaum

TERRE HAUTE — Dorothy Rose “Dottie” Shapland Philabaum, 36, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1977, in Terre Haute, to Steve A. Shapland of Elkhart, and Delores J. Sink of Terre Haute.

Dottie loved to spend time with family and friends, cookouts, camping and was a big Twilight fan. Dottie loved Tinker Bell, all kinds of music, doing crafts, going to yard sales, water parks and also she enjoyed swimming. Her son C.J. and dog Bella were her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bill Sink; mother-in-law, Doris A. Philabaum; and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Charles W. “Chuck” Philabaum; her son, Charles W. “C.J.” Philabaum Jr.; her mother and father; three sisters, Joyce J. Dillingham of Terre Haute, Mary K. Linne of Kentucky, and Tammy L. Davis of Brazil; two brothers, Steve A. Shapland Jr. and Michael Johnson, both of Terre Haute; her “Big Sister” of 26 years, Betsy and Greg Kelson of Colorado; and her special friends, Paul and Jamie Markle of Terre Haute.  She also is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Second Christian Church, 410 8th Ave., in Terre Haute, with Elder Ted Bradburn officiating.  Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made at the service to offset her medical expenses. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, assisted arrangements.
