TERRE HAUTE —
John J. Lubbehusen died at peace on Monday, April 1, 2013. He was born in Terre Haute, on June 7, 1915, to the late Urban and Regina (Weyer) Lubbehusen. John was an A&P manager, both in Terre Haute and Sullivan, for 44 years, and he also was employed at Shanks Motors and Stein Mart.
Survivors include his son, John Richard Lubbehusen and wife Jane; daughter, Cheryl Ann Darman and husband Tom; three grandchildren, John D. Lubbehusen, Eric Lubbehusen and wife Krista, and Marci Nussel and husband Steve; eight great-grandchildren, Maddison, Justin, Conner, Drew, Dylan, Emma, Ruthee, and Maddox; a sister, Lucille McIntyre; a brother-in-law, George Gildersleeve; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Mae Lubbehusen, whom he married May 30, 1938; and a son, Thomas Gordon.
John belonged to the Traveler’s Protective Association, where he was a past national director. He also was a member of the K of C and was an Accordia Volunteer. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, playing cards, word searches and his garden.
Visitation will be today, April 4, 2013, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, April 5, 2013, at 12:05 p.m. in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Ed Goldbach officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
