TERRE HAUTE —
William E. York, 66, of West Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in the VA Hospital in Danville, Ill. He was born on Dec. 29, 1946, in Clinton, to James H. York and Helen Baugues York. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970 during the Vietnam War. He was a clamp truck operator with International Paper. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and United Paperworkers.
He was preceded in death by his father, James York. He is survived by his wife, Penny York of West Terre Haute; a son, Chad E. and Kristen M. York of West Terre Haute; his mother, Helen York of Montezuma; and a sister, Margaret and Jim Rumple of Montezuma; a granddaughter, Koti York of West Terre Haute; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 1 p.m. in Shirley Cemetery, in Shirkieville, with the Rev. Bob Roush officiating. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion and VFW. Online condolences may be made to:
