Sara Elizabeth ‘Sarabeth’ Myers

DANA — Sara Elizabeth “Sarabeth” Myers, 90, of Fairfax, Okla., and formerly of Dana, died June 27, 2013, at Fairfax Memorial Hospital in Fairfax. She was surrounded by her family throughout her last days. Sara was born May 14, 1923, in Hopkins County, Ky., to the late Wallace and Hazel Gamblin Utley. Sara moved to Dana at the beginning of her senior year and graduated from Dana High School in 1941. She married Martin Myers on Jan. 25, 1948, and they celebrated their 65th anniversary. From 1972 until her retirement in 1989, Sara owned and operated “Sara’s Seller” a gift and floral design shop in Dana. Sara’s Christmas Open House was a “happening” in Dana. People visited from across the state and filled the streets of the small town. A description of Sara’s life would be incomplete without mentioning her love of bridge, her many devoted friends and of course her fondness of flowers and floral arrangements.

She was a charter member of the Dana 49ers club and founder of Town & Countrie Garden Club, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Dana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Ruth; and a son, Jeffry. She is survived by her husband, Martin of Fairfax, Okla.; daughter, Andrea Myers of Terre Haute; son, George Michael Myers of Pawnee, Okla.; grandsons, Christopher Myers and wife Amy of Bismark, Ill., Andrew Myers and fiancée Stephanie of Mahomet, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kaitlyn.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, in Overpeck-Gooch Funeral Home at 225 N. Maple St., Dana, with the Rev. Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Bales Cemetery, Dana. Visitation is 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Overpeck-Gooch Funeral Home. Friends may sign an online guest register at:
