Danny Ervin Pruitt, 61, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 3, 2012, in his residence. He retired as a painter from the Painters Union Local 197 in Terre Haute. He was born March 18, 1951, in Terre Haute, to Elbert Pruitt and Evelyn Wells Pruitt.
Survivors include his wife, Mart Pruitt; a daughter, Lacey Pruitt; two grandchildren, Dalton and Chase; two godchildren, Chance Wheeler and Brandan Wheeler; five brothers, Darrell Pruitt and his wife Judy, Jerry Pruitt and his wife Loretta, Ronnie Pruitt and his wife Susie, Steve Pruitt and his wife Rosie, and Jack Pruitt and his companion Debra Martinez; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Roxie and Dave Zigler, and Dixie and Larry Price; a brother-in-law, Hans Collins; and two sisters-in-law, Gayle Pruitt and her companion Jim Worrell, and Patty Pruitt; and a special friend, Bob Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marion and Richard Pruitt; a sister, Eileen Collins; and a sister-in-law, Connie Pruitt.
He also had been employed with Hartman Roofing, Maher Gas Company, and Sunset Harbor. He enjoyed playing music with his brothers, where he was a guitarist with the Pruitt Brothers Band. He also enjoyed working on cars.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. David Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday.
