Tony M. ‘Preacher’ Kifer


TERRE HAUTE — Tony M. “Preacher” Kifer, 69, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on Sept. 10, 1943, in Paragould, Ark., the son of Charles Burton and Ruby Nell (McClurg) Kifer. Tony was a retired boilermaker and an ordained minister. He was a member of Celebration Spiritual Center in Terre Haute.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Travis Kifer; and two brothers, Donald and Paul Kifer.

Survivors include his wife, Sandee (Bennet) Kifer; daughter, Valerie Bradbury of Sullivan; two sons, Bryan Kifer of Vincennes, and Jesse Kifer of Terre Haute; one stepdaughter, Kayla Shaffer of Terre Haute; stepson, Kyle Shaffer of Terre Haute; one sister, Iona Smith of Augusta, Ga.; and nine grandchildren, Matt, Abigail, Claire, Hannah, Liza, Jesse, Mark, Paul, and Piper.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, from 5 until 8 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Karen Buchholz at Celebration Spiritual Center in Terre Haute.
