Glenda Faye McVeigh, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2013, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri, on Sept. 6, 1940, to Daniel Junior Damron and Lillian M. (Alexander) Damron.
Glenda graduated from Northeast Missouri with a degree in business education. In one of her business classes, she met her husband, Don McVeigh Sr. She received a master’s degree from Indiana State University. They were married on Aug. 25, 1963. She taught at many institutions throughout her career, and retired from Indiana State University, where she taught business courses.
To Glenda, a mother of three, family and friends were of the most important parts of her life. She was a great cook, and cooked special dinners for members of her family on their birthdays. Glenda had a heart of gold. She enjoyed volunteering at the 14th and Chestnut Community Center. She was a member of the Seelyville United Methodist Church, where she and her family had attended for 30 years. Glenda was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Glenda and her husband enjoyed golfing and traveling together. She participated in a woman’s golf league, enjoyed shopping and especially enjoyed the Covered Bridge Festival.
Glenda is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Don McVeigh Sr.; sons, Don McVeigh Jr., Steve McVeigh and his wife Missi, and Michael McVeigh and his wife Heather; grandchildren, Lyndsey Noelle, Lauren Ashley, Lizabeth Renee and Max Daniel; great-grandchildren, Jaelin Noelle, Isabel Rae and Hunter James; brothers, Jack Damron and his wife Mae, and Gary Damron and his wife Lois; sister, Janet Janes and her husband Frank; and sister-in-law, Pat Damron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Dan Damron.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at Seelyville United Methodist Church, 2351 N. Second St., Seelyville. Pastor Jack Dial will be officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. today, Feb. 10, 2013, in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., and on Monday from noon until 1 p.m. prior to services at the church.
