PARIS, Ill. — Peggy G. Flanagan, 85, of Paris, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Paris Healthcare Center. She was a secretary for the Illinois Department of Transportation, retiring in 1991. Peggy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar Society, and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Born Aug. 28, 1927, in Jacksonville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Herbster) MacDonald. She married Patrick E. Flanagan, in Jacksonville, and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Joseph Flanagan of Cincinnati, and Steven (Ann) Flanagan of Garden City, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Ahrenkiel of Athens; and four grandchildren, Meghan and Brandon Flanagan, both of Indianapolis, and Tommy and Erin Flanagan, both of Garden City.
The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. CST Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, in Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Visitation will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. David Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
