Helen Louise (Rooksberry) Collenbaugh

---- — COAL CITY, Ind.—Helen Louise (Rooksberry) Collenbaugh, 82, of Coal City, passed away on Jan. 11, 2013, at Springhill Village Nursing Home with her family by her side.

Helen was born May 13, 1930, in Dugger, Ind., the daughter of Elmer and Hallie (Bercaw) Rooksberry. Helen married Wayne Collenbaugh in 1947. She worked as a nursing aide at Macanell Nursing Home. Helen was a member of the Coal City Church of Christ. She was also a teacher at the World Bible School. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, but she took the most pride in her grandchildren, where she was a special grandma to them.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Donald Wayne Collenbaugh; sisters, Shirley Rickert, Dorothy Boone, Bernice Baker; and brother, Jimmy Rooksberry.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Moore (Kenny), Marlene Walters, Stella Switzer (Rick), Mary Ray (Dave); son, Scott Allen Collenbaugh; grandchildren, Beth Greeson (David), Susan Thweatt (Albert), Brandon Walters (Julie), Adam Walters, Kelly Atkinson, Michael Switzer (Sarah), Amy Estep, Mitchell Estep; brother, Charles Rooksberry; brother-in-law, Arthur Collenbaugh (Marjorie), Donald Wells (Maxine); sister, Frances Anderson; as well as several extended family members and friends.

A special thanks goes out to the caring staff at Spring Hill Village Nursing Home, Vista Care Hospice and Dr. Pappas.

Service will be at noon Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with David Graffe officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Ind. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Vista Care Hospice, 3401 S. Fourth St., Terre Haute. Visit to light a candle in her remembrance.
