Harold (Bill) Wetnight

TERRE HAUTE — Harold (Bill) Wetnight, went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2013, at Union Hospital. He was born to Harold Wetnight Sr. and Katherine Marler Wetnight in Jasonville on May 7, 1931.

He was in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954, on the USS Salamoine AO 26. He was a member of the Shriners, Free and Accepted Masons, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a life time member of The Wabash Valley Fair Association and The Murdock Auto Racing Club, and Order of the Eastern Star.

He was in the heating and cooling business for 10 years then went on to open up Wetnight RV Trailer Sales and Service, where he was owner and operator until 1983 when he went to Cadiz, Ky., and opened a Marina and was owner and operator for 13 years at which time he retired.

Harold enjoyed fishing and hunting in South Dakota, and going to NASCAR races, watching the Indianapolis Colts, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandkids.

Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene, whom he married on May 4, 1952; one sister, Menzie Patz and husband Don Patz of Plainfield; two sons, Thomas Wetnight and wife Anna of Rosedale,, and Jim Wetnight of Clinton; one daughter, Menzie Maurer and husband Jerry of Marshall, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Amber and Vince Tindel, Joey Wetnight, Shannon Wetnight, Tom and Kristan Jones, Katie Maurer, Chloe Maurer, Isabelle Maurer, Kacie and Clint Johnson and Travis Maurer; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother-in-law, Bud Walker and his wife Betty; brother-in-law, Don Walker; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Benko and her husband Bob.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, with visitation today from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Officiating will be Mike Stone. Burial is at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will have a celebration of Bill’s life after services at the Rosedale American Legion.
