Grover Harold Kincanon

TERRE HAUTE — Grover Harold Kincanon passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Union Hospital. Grover was born on May 19, 1916, in Garland, Ill., son of Grover Eugene and Nora Viola (Cook) Shook. He married Florence Clara (Brozek) on June 10, 1939, in Chicago, and married Myrtle Elizabeth (Fite) Snearly on April 9, 1977, in Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Lavina (Rice) Kincanon: first wife, Florence Clara; second wife, Myrtle Elizabeth; parents, Grover Eugene and Nora Viola; sisters, Hazel O’Malley and Helen Caruso; and son, Robert Eugene.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Thomas Harold and Carol of Fishers, Donald Edward and Adrenna of Franklin Park, Ill., and daughter Patricia Trish Louise (Larson) Logan of Thorton, Colo.; stepchildren, Loretta Marlene and Neil Wiley of Los Gatos, Calif., Russell (Russ) Lowell and Sandy Snearly of Camdenton, Mo., and Winona (Kay) Deal and Richard Auten of West Terre Haute; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Grover was born in Garland, Ill., and lived there until moving to Brocton, Ill., and later to Tuscola, Ill., and Champaign, Ill. He moved to Chicago in 1938 to seek employment and was employed over the years at Yellow Cab Company and various car dealerships as an auto mechanic until retiring in 1978 and moving to Terre Haute. As his health declined, he resided at Kindred Transitional Health and Rehabilitation, in Terre Haute, from 2005 until his death. Grover served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946.

Services will be Sunday, June 30, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., with a visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
