Ida F. Coleman

Ida F. Coleman, 94, passed away at 5:24 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Prairie Village Nursing Home in Washington, Ind. She was born April 3, 1919, in Cass, Ind., to Charles S. Benton and Nellie (Joseph) Benton.

Ida is survived by  a son, Donald Lee Coleman and his wife Jill; three daughters, Mickey Walker and her husband Joe of Shelburn, Mary Flint and her husband Roger of Washington, and Cathy Mickey and her husband Tom of Dennison, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Coleman; her parents; a brother, Charles Benton; a great-granddaughter; and a great-great-grandson.

Ida’s greatest passion was playing her guitar and singing country music. She played on the Grand Ole Opry in the 1930s.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with funeral services at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Benton officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to either, American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would also like to give a special thanks to the Prairie Village Nursing Facility. Online condolences may be left at:
