JASONVILLE — Robert “Bob” Gardner, 67, of Jasonville, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital, after losing his battle with cancer. He was born May 11, 1946, in Linton, to Lewis Richard Gardner and Mary Jane (Hammersley) Gardner.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Vicki (Hill) Gardner of Jasonville, whom he married on Feb. 27, 1966; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Jack Morgan of Huntingburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Jeanine Gardner of Linton, and Aaron and Kim Gardner of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Erica and Donte Cital, Cory Gardner Cottingham, Dustin Morgan, Tyler and Kristin Morgan, Aaron and Ashley Morgan, Stacy Ammerman, Chad and Darian Morgan, Travis and Jenna Morgan, Josh Morgan, Danielle and Kyle Myers, Kayden, and Aaralyn and Adalie Gardner; great-grandchildren, Brodie Myers, China and Phoebee Cital; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Susan Gardner of Terre Haute; and sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Bill Gaskins of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Fern Hammersley; brother, Charles Gardner; and stepfather, Robert Bedwell.
He was a member of Coalmont Baptist Church and attended Jasonville Church of God. He had worked for John S. Cox Auto Parts Store in Terre Haute and been the manager for NAPA Stores in Jasonville and Bloomfield. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid reader and loved taking care of his German Shepherd, Cinco. He liked being involved with the NRA and tinkering with cars.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, at Jasonville Church of God. Private funeral services will be held at the church with Pastor Jonathan Heard officiating on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013. Arrangements are entrusted to Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, in Jasonville.
