ROBINSON, Ill. — Roy D. Miner, 90, of Robinson, died at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Heritage Health (formerly Cotillion Ridge) in Robinson. He was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Robinson, the son of Harry Miner and Gladys Brush Miner. Roy was a service man, working gas utilities for several years. Roy was a member of the First Christian Church of Robinson. He also was a past Moose Lodge member. Roy was a train and clock enthusiast who also enjoyed music and poetry.
Roy married Pauline Larres on Nov. 14, 1945, and she survives. He also is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Donna Miner of Rantoul, Ill.; his daughter, Jan Ayola of Parrish, Fla.; his granddaughters, Sarah Miner and Emily Drew; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ray Miner, Charles Miner and O’Dell Miner; and his sisters, Emma Miner, Clancie Brashears and Almeda McDaniel.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with pastors Tom Akers and Amy Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
