MARSHALL, Ill. — Lelia B. Talley, 88, of Marshall, Ill., passed away at 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
She was retired from Western Union.
She was born Aug. 31, 1925, in Paris, Ill., the daughter of Benjamin Harrison Waymire and Mary Combs Waymire.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Waymire, Benjamin Waymire and Lester Waymire.
Surviving are two daughters, Robin Talley and her companion, Randy Nicholson, of Marshall; and Mary Talley Brown and her husband, Les, of Palm Coast, Fla.; two grandchildren, Mark Denny and his wife Jenny; and Stacie Denny Girard and her boyfriend, Matt Beck; and a great-grandchild, Kalia Belle Girard, and one on the way, a baby boy, Liam Beck.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Paris, Ill., the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #5975, and the Burnsides Community Health Care Center Residents Council. She loved to fly, enjoyed birds and animals, and enjoyed helping others. She had been active with the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank and was a graduate of Paris High School.
The family is truly grateful for the wonderful care given to Lelia by Dr. Amy James, the staff of the Burnsides Community Health Care Center and the doctors and nurses of Union Hospital.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Shaw Chapel of Burnsides Community Health Care Center. Burial will be at a later date in the Marshall Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 9 a.m. Monday at the chapel. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Marshall Food and Clothing Bank.
